He evil-entreateth the barren Job here returns to the declaration of his further acts of wickedness, the causes of these judgments; that heareth not Barrenness was esteemed a curse and reproach; and so it is mentioned as an instance of this man's wickedness, that he added affliction to the afflicted, whom he should have pitied and helped; but because the barren had no children, and the widows no husbands to defend or avenge their cause, he exercised cruelty upon them.
