The princes of Israel The heads or chiefs of the several tribes, mentioned Numbers 1:5-16. Offered In the manner, and on the days hereafter mentioned. Before the Lord That is, they were presented to God at the door of the tabernacle, as it follows; six covered wagons Wagons that were covered above, for the convenience of carrying the heavier parts of the tabernacle, and preserving them from the injuries of the weather. They were probably very rich and sumptuous, since two of the great men joined in the present of one wagon.

Numbers 7:2-3

2 That the princes of Israel, heads of the house of their fathers, who were the princes of the tribes, and were over them that were numbered, offered:

3 And they brought their offering before the LORD, six covered wagons, and twelve oxen; a wagon for two of the princes, and for each one an ox: and they brought them before the tabernacle.
