I charge you, O daughters, &c. The church having passed the watchmen, proceeds in the pursuit of her beloved, and inquires of every particular believer, whom she meets, concerning him. Tell him, that I am sick, &c. That I am ready to faint for want of his presence. What is thy beloved, &c., more than another Wherein doth he excel them?

Believers might ask this, that they might be more fully informed of it.

Song of Solomon 5:8-9

8 I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, if ye find my beloved, that ye tell him, that I am sick of love.

9 What is thy beloved more than another beloved, O thou fairest among women? what is thy beloved more than another beloved, that thou dost so charge us?
