Ahaziah. — In this short reign the influence of Jezebel, evidently in abeyance in the last days of Ahab, revives; and the idolatry of Baal resumes its place side by side with the older idolatry of Jeroboam, and (see 2 Kings 1:2) with the worship of the Canaanitish Baalzebub.
