Acts 9:35 - Ellicott's Commentary On The Whole Bible

Bible Comments

All that dwelt at Lydda and Saron. — The latter name indicates a district rather than a town. The presence of the article with it, and its absence from Lydda, indicates that men spoke of “the Saron” — the plain — the woodlands (so it is rendered by the LXX.: 1 Chronicles 5:16; 1 Chronicles 27:29; Song of Solomon 2:1; Isaiah 35:2) — as we speak of “the weald.” It lay between the central mountains of Palestine and the Mediterranean, and was proverbial for its beauty and fertility (Isaiah 33:9; Isaiah 65:10).

Acts 9:35

35 And all that dwelt at Lydda and Saron saw him, and turned to the Lord.
