Prince of the host — i.e., Jehovah Himself. (Comp. Daniel 8:25; Daniel 11:36.)
The daily — i.e., everything permanent in the worship of God, such as sacrifices, &c. (See Note on Leviticus 6:13.) On this conduct of Antiochus see 1Ma. 1:39; 1Ma. 1:45, &c., 1Ma. 3:45.
Place of his sanctuary — i.e., the Temple. (Comp. 1 Kings 8:13.)
