Deuteronomy 28:2 - Ellicott's Commentary On The Whole Bible

Bible Comments

And overtake thee. — A beautiful expression, i.e., shall come home to thee, and impress the heart with the thought of God’s love and of His promises, even when it is least expected. Comp. Zechariah 1:6. “My words and my statutes, did they not take hold of (i.e., overtake) your fathers? and they returned and said, Like as the Lord of hosts thought to do unto us... so hath he dealt with us.” The opposite is true also of the curses (Deuteronomy 28:15).

Deuteronomy 28:2

2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.
