Jeremiah 32:43,44 - Ellicott's Commentary On The Whole Bible

Bible Comments

And fields shall be bought in this land... — The significance of the whole transaction of the purchase of the field in Anathoth is again solemnly confirmed. Men were desponding, as though the land were to belong to the Chaldæans for ever. They are told that the very region which was now covered with their encampments should once again be possessed freely by its own people. In the “mountains,” the “valleys,” and the south, or negeb district, stretching towards the country of the Philistines, we have, as before in Jeremiah 17:26, the familiar division of the land of Judah, which had been transmitted from what has well been called the Domesday Book of Israel (Joshua 15:21; Joshua 15:33; Joshua 15:48).

Jeremiah 32:43-44

43 And fields shall be bought in this land, whereof ye say, It is desolate without man or beast; it is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.

44 Men shall buy fields for money, and subscribe evidences, and seal them, and take witnesses in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, and in the cities of the mountains, and in the cities of the valley, and in the cities of the south: for I will cause their captivity to return, saith the LORD.
