Matthew 20:34 - Ellicott's Commentary On The Whole Bible

Bible Comments

So Jesus had compassion. — Literally, and Jesus. It was not His purpose to meet the popular demand for signs and wonders, but compassion drew from Him the work of power which otherwise He would have shrunk from here. And then the two followed Him, glorifying God. In St. Luke’s narrative the incident is followed by the story of Zacchæus and the parable of the Pounds. Possibly (see Note on Matthew 20:30) they preceded it.

Matthew 20:34

34 So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.
