Psalms 45:5 - Ellicott's Commentary On The Whole Bible

Bible Comments

Thine arrows. — Our version has transposed the clauses of this verse. The original is more vivid.

“Thine arrows are sharpened —
The people under Thee fall —
Against the heart of the king’s enemies.”

The poet actually sees the battle raging before him.

Psalms 45:5

5 Thine arrows are sharp in the heart of the king's enemies; whereby the people fall under thee.
