The Reader will do well to consult the parallel history, 1 Kings 15:1 though it is more fully related here concerning the reign of Abijah than in that sacred record. But the subject is truly interesting; and the Reader will, I hope, not fail to regard it. The name of Abijah is striking; Abba, Father; Jab, Jehovah; meaning, the Lord is my Father.

2 Chronicles 13:1-2

1 Now in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam began Abijah to reign over Judah.

2 He reigned three years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Michaiah the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. And there was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.
