How delightful it is to see the gracious effects of the prophet's preaching on the heart of Asa. Such, Reader! ought all the gracious messages of our God, in his blessed gospel, to have upon our hearts, to give courage and strength for the holy war, and to animate our souls more and more to forget things which are behind, and to press forward to those which are before; and thus to press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. 8 And when Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominable idols out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from mount Ephraim, and renewed the altar of the LORD, that was before the porch of the LORD.
