Genesis 24:4 - Hawker's Poor Man's Commentary

Bible Comments

But thou shalt go unto my country, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son Isaac.

Some have thought, that as Isaac was in many respects a type of the blessed Jesus, what is said here, in reference to the servant's embassy, to bring home a wife for Isaac, may shadow out the service of ministers of the gospel in their bringing home souls to Christ. Certain it is, that the church is called the bride, the Lamb's wife. Revelation 21:9. And Christ himself is called the bridegroom. John 3:29; Ephesians 5:2; Ephesians 5:2.
