This Chapter contains God's judgments for divers sins.
O "The word of the LORD which came unto Zephaniah the son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of Hizkiah, in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah."
This verse is only an introduction to the body of the discourse contained in the prophecy. Some have thought that Zephaniah, in its extent of meaning, is alike the name given to Joseph, Zaph-nathpaaneah; a revealer of secrets. Genesis 41:45.
