holy. Greek. hagios. This, as contrasted with "unclean", must be in the same ceremonial sense, but there maybe. thought of the dedication of the child to God by the believing parent, and the influence he or she would exercise upon it.

14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.
