Jehu the son of Hanani. He had reproved Baasha, king of Israel, at Tirzah (1 Kings 16:1); and now rebukes Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, at Jerusalem.

Shouldest thou... ? Figure of speech Erotesis, for emphasis. Here we have Jehovah's opinion as to alliances with idolaters (Ahab, 2 Chronicles 18:1, &c), and as to what constitutes. "good work". See note on 2 Chronicles 19:3.

ungodly. lawless one (singular) App-44.

wrath. Manifested in the wars recorded in 2 Chronicles 20:1-3.

2 And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate the LORD? therefore is wrath upon thee from before the LORD.
