Baal-zebub. Lord of flies. Later Jews polluted it by changing it to Beelzebul (Lord of dung or dunghills), In Matthew 12:24 it is in Greek Baal-zebul. lord of abominable idols; the prince of idols and idolatry; the worst and chief of all wickedness. Imagine the blasphemy.

Ekron. One of the five Philistine cities. Joshua 13:3.

2 And Ahaziah fell down through a lattice in his upper chamber that was in Samaria, and was sick: and he sent messengers, and said unto them, Go, enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron whether I shall recover of this disease.
