centurion. a captain over. hundred men. Greek. hekatontarchos. Occurs elsewhere, Acts 10:22; Acts 24:23; Acts 27:1; Acts 27:31. In the Gospels and in nine other places in Acts, the form hekatontarchos is used.

1 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,
