priests. Hebrew. kemarim = priests of Baal, or black ones, from kamar = to be black, from the black dress (or cassocks) worn by them. Occurs only here and 2 Kings 23:5.Zephaniah 1:4.
rejoiced. leap, or exult. Compare 1 Kings 18:26.
glory... departed. Reference to the history (1 Samuel 4:21; 1 Samuel 4:22).
