in Ramah. on the high place. Evidently. "high place" near Bethlehem.. common name in Palestine. The Targum and Vulg, read "in. high place".

Rahel. Rachel. The mother of Joseph and Benjamin (i.e. Ephraim); thus uniting the two kingdoms and the two peoples. Compare Jeremiah 31:9.

children. sons.
