the house of the LORD. Hebrew. the house of Jehovah (App-4). This was Hezekiah's constant care, desire, and thought. It filled his heart. He began his reign by "opening its doors" and cleansing it. See. Chronicles 29-31, where it is mentioned seventeen times. He spread Sennacherib's letter before Jehovah there (Isaiah 37:14). In his mortal sickness his prayer and its answer related to it (2 Kings 20:5). The "sign" he asked related to it (2 Kings 20:8; Isaiah 38:22). His songs were to be sung there (Isaiah 38:20). See App-67.
