Owing to the intervention of the Romans, Antiochus was unable to invade Egypt, and was compelled to make terms with Ptolemy. the daughter of women: his daughter Cleopatra. to destroy it (mg.): the real motive of the marriage was to obtain a hold over Egypt. but it (mg.) shall not stand: the plan did not succeed. Cleopatra took the part of her husband rather than her father.
