And above all things: see the like expression, James 5:12, and on the same occasion, Colossians 3:14. Have fervent charity; not only labour after charity diligently and carefully, but let it be fervent, intense, strong. For charity shall cover the multitude of sins; partly by preventing anger, railings, revilings, contentions, that they break not out, and partly by repressing, concealing, pardoning them when they do break out, 1 Corinthians 13:7: see James 5:20.
