Ezekiel 8:2 - Matthew Poole's English Annotations on the Holy Bible

Bible Comments

A likeness of a man; that man whom he had seen upon the throne, i.e. of Christ. The appearance of fire: see Ezekiel 1:26-28. This fire denotes the wrath of God against Jerusalem, and it is observed it was fire downward, wrath already coming down upon the Jews. The appearance of brightness, to signify the majesty and glory of Christ. See more Ezekiel 1:27.

Ezekiel 8:2

2 Then I beheld, and lo a likeness as the appearance of fire: from the appearance of his loins even downward, fire; and from his loins even upward, as the appearance of brightness, as the colour of amber.
