The Assyrian; Sennacherib, and his Assyrian army. In my land; in Judea, which is my land in a peculiar manner, being chosen by me, and consecrated to my use and service, and inhabited by my people. Upon my mountains; in my mountainous country, for such Judea was, Deuteronomy 8:9 Psalms 133:3 Ezekiel 6:2,3 Ezekiel 39:2,4,17, especially about Jerusalem, Psalms 125:2, upon some of which probably his army was lodged. Then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders; which words are repeated from Isaiah 10:27, where they are explained.

25 That I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders.
