Isaiah 5:2 - Matthew Poole's English Annotations on the Holy Bible

Bible Comments

Fenced it, that neither men nor beasts might spoil it. Gathered out the stones thereof; which otherwise would have marred the land; of which see 2 Kings 3:19. The sense is, He removed all hinderances, and gave them all the means of fruitfulness. Built a tower, for the residence of the keepers, that they might be obliged and encouraged to watch over it with more diligence.

Isaiah 5:2

2 And he fenceda it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.
