When Christ had tasted the vinegar, he said, It is finished; that is, I have now done and suffered all things which lay upon me in this life to do and suffer. Having said this, he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. They are terms expressive of death, and our Saviour's free surrender of his soul unto his Father.
