Og also was a king of the Amorites, of whom see Deuteronomy 3:1,11. And it may seem that Sihon and Og were the leaders or captains of two great colonies which came out of Canaan, and drove out the former inhabitants of these places. Bashan, a rich country, famous for its pastures and breed of cattle, Deuteronomy 32:14 Psalms 22:12 Jeremiah 1:19, and for its oaks, Ezekiel 27:6.
