Without the law; inasmuch as the law, pressing obedience to be performed by us in our own persons, seems plainly ignorant of the righteousness of another imputed to us. Is manifested; this righteousness nevertheless is revealed plainly, now since the coming of Christ, and in the gospel, as in Romans 1:17. Being witnessed by the law and the prophets; that there may be no suspicion of novelty: see 1 Thessalonians 5:46,47.
