Not by works of righteousness which we have done; not according to our works, 2 Timothy 1:9, whether ceremonial or moral. By the washing of regeneration; washing us by regeneration, as in a laver, the pledge and sign of which is in baptism. And renewing of the Holy Ghost; the Holy Spirit changing and renewing our natures.
