Altogether— On the whole. It cannot be thought that God had no regard at all to the brute creatures, in such precepts as these; and therefore it is better to render παντως, by on the whole, than entirely, or altogether; though that sense is more frequent. See Mintert, and Vigerus.

10 Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.
