1 Timothy 5:13 - Coke's Commentary on the Holy Bible

Bible Comments

And withal—to be idle, &c.— And moreover, being idle, they get a habit of rambling from house to house; and are not only idle, but triflers, φλυαροι :—a word derived from the verb φλυειν, which signifies the noise made by water, when it is ready to boil over; and therefore well expresses the inward fermentation (if we may so speak) in the minds of these trifling people, which they vented by unprofitable discourses.

1 Timothy 5:13

13 And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.
