2 Samuel 19:37 - Coke's Commentary on the Holy Bible

Bible Comments

Behold thy servant Chimham— Chimham, it is generally supposed, was Barzillai's son; see 1 Kings 2:7. In Jeremiah 41:17 there is mention of the habitation of Chimham, which was near Bethlehem; and it is a very reasonable conjecture of Grotius, that David, having a patrimony in the field of Bethlehem, bestowed it upon this son of Barzillai, whence the place took the name of Chimham.

2 Samuel 19:37

37 Let thy servant, I pray thee, turn back again, that I may die in mine own city, and be buried by the grave of my father and of my mother. But behold thy servant Chimham; let him go over with my lord the king; and do to him what shall seem good unto thee.
