Acts 7:42,43 - Coke's Commentary on the Holy Bible

Bible Comments

Then God turned,— See Romans 1:21-24. Psalms 81:11-12. There were two sorts of idolatry; namely, the worshipping the true God by idol mediators, and terminating their worship upon false Gods. Israel began with the former; and for a punishment was permitted to fall into the latter. See on Exodus 32:1. &c. the notes on Amos 5:25; Amos 5:27.

Acts 7:42-43

42 Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices by the space of forty years in the wilderness?

43 Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, figures which ye made to worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.
