Made us meet to be partakers,— The words rendered, partakers of the inheritance, literally signify, the proportion of an inheritance, which falls by lot to each of those among whom it is divided; alluding, as is supposed, to the manner in which the land of Canaan was divided among the tribes. It may be rendered, who hath made us fit for a part in the inheritance of the saints in light;—an expression which some understand as referring to the lustre of the glorified body of the saints: who will be clothed after the resurrection with a visible lucid glory, resembling that of the Shechinah.
