To the faithful in Christ Jesus:— Some have understood this as an intimation, that the Christians at Ephesus were remarkablyfaithful to Christ in relying on him alone for salvation, without that attachment to the Mosaic law which was to be found in some other churches, and particularly among the Galatians. But as he uses the same title when addressing the Colossians (Colossians 1:2.), whom yet he reproves on this very account (Colossians 2:16; Colossians 2:20.), I can lay no stress upon that criticism.
