How long wilt thou refuse to humble thyself— This expression plainly proves, that God's intention was not to harden Pharaoh by these singular judgments. His gracious purpose was to have humbled him; i.e. to have brought him to a just sense of himself, and to a lowly acknowledgment of the sovereignty of Jehovah.

3 And Moses and Aaron came in unto Pharaoh, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews, How long wilt thou refuse to humble thyself before me? let my people go, that they may serve me.
