This city is the caldron— When they say, that doth not yet hang over, or threaten us, that our houses should be the caldron, and we the flesh. Jeremiah, as well as Ezekiel himself, foretold the destruction of Jerusalem under the metaphor of a seething-pot. See chap. 24: and Jeremiah 1:13.; an idea which these infidels seem here to ridicule.
