There was also another great eagle— That is, Pharaoh Apries, king of Egypt, a great and powerful prince, though less so than the king of Babylon. Instead of great, we may read, large wings; and the last clause may, be rendered, And shot forth its branches under him, from the furrows where it was planted, that he might water it.
