Ezekiel 33:32 - Coke's Commentary on the Holy Bible

Bible Comments

Thou art unto them, &c.— That is to say, they come to hear thee solely for their entertainment, not for their edification and improvement. This, it is to be feared, is not a complaint peculiar to Ezekiel, but one which many of those who deliver even the glad tidings of salvation through a crucified Saviour, have but too much reason to make. Of the numbers who sit attentively to a serious and well-delivered discourse, how few bring it home to themselves by a proper self-application! How many consider it merely as a lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice!

Ezekiel 33:32

32 And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not.
