Genesis 9:21 - Coke's Commentary on the Holy Bible

Bible Comments

He drank of the wine, and was drunken— Became inebriated, not knowing, perhaps, the nature and strength of the liquor; or being, through age, incapable of bearing it; and Moses is so faithful an historian, that he records the failings and imperfections of the most venerable patriarchs, as well as their excellencies. This remark is from Dr. Newton, the learned Bishop of Bristol; whose judicious exposition of the subsequent passage we shall follow, from his useful dissertations on the prophecies.

Genesis 9:21

21 And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.
