In those days, &c.— See the note on chap. Jeremiah 23:6. Many commentators render the last clause of the 16th verse thus, And this is he that shall proclaim to her, or, And he that shall call her, is the Lord, &c. Such qualities are given to the person here called the Branch, as can belong to no other than Jesus Christ the Son of David, the first-born of the Father. See the 17th and 18th verses.

16 In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this is the name wherewith she shall be called, The LORD our righteousness.
