Had conveyed himself away,— Casaubon observes, that the wind εξενευσεν, by which the evangelist expresses Christ's escape, being a metaphor borrowed from swimming, signifies, that he glided through the multitude, leaving no trace behind him of the way that he had taken.

13 And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitudea being in that place.
