John 8:34 - Coke's Commentary on the Holy Bible

Bible Comments

Whosoever committeth sin, &c.— Ποιει αμαρτιαν, doeth, or practiseth sin: to do, in the Hebrew dialect, imports not the present act only, but the habit of doing. Hence some render this, Whosoever practises sin, is the servant, Δουλος, the slave of sin.—There are no greater slaves than those who give themselves up to a vicious kind of life, and to the gratification of their sinful appetites. See Romans 6:16. 2 Peter 2:19.

John 8:34

34 Jesus answered them,Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
