They said, Gideon the son of Joash hath done this thing— There seems to be no doubt, from God's choice of him, that Gideon was no worshipper of Baal; and therefore the people, knowing this, very readily concluded that he had been guilty of this sacrilege as they deemed it, and consequently was worthy of death, Judges 6:30.
