The priest shall sprinkle the blood, &c.— The Zabii, that they might get into friendship and fellowship with their daemons, used to receive the blood of their beasts which were slain into some vessel or little trench, and to sit about it, and eat the flesh; imagining that the blood was the food of the daemons; that they were at the same table with them; and that by this rite they contracted familiarity and friendship with them.
