Leviticus 20:14 - Coke's Commentary on the Holy Bible

Bible Comments

If a man take a wife, &c.—they shall be burnt with fire Some have thought it very extraordinary, that this crime should be punished with burning alive; when simple death only is assigned as a punishment for a more monstrous crime: (Leviticus 20:15-16.) and, therefore, they have thought that burning with fire here means, the marking of their bodies with a red-hot instrument, as a present punishment, and a future brand of infamy.

Leviticus 20:14

14 And if a man take a wife and her mother, it is wickedness: they shall be burnt with fire, both he and they; that there be no wickedness among you.
