Had made an end of commanding— Had finished his instructions to, &c. Heylin. In their cities—means "in the other cities of the Jews;" for the pronoun is often put without having a noun going before, to which it refers. Compare Luke 4:15; Luke 5:17.: or else, by the cities here mentioned, we may understand those cities of Galilee, of which the apostles were; see Acts 2:7. The attentive reader will observe, that the Chapter s are again here very ill divided, as this verseshould certainly close the last chapter. See Bengelius's Greek Testament, the divisions whereof are the most judicious that I have met with.
