Two waggons and four oxen—unto the sons of Gershon— By referring to chap. Numbers 4:5 and the following verses, it will appear, that to those of the Levites who had the heaviest burdens to carry, the most carriages were allowed; while the Kohathites (Numbers 7:9.) were allowed none, as they, for the greater dignity, were to bear the ark upon their shoulders.
