Revelation 2:26 - Coke's Commentary on the Holy Bible

Bible Comments

Will I give power over the nations:— This is suitable to the title of the Lord Jesus in the beginning of this Epistle, where he calls himself the Son of God, which implies the possession of regal and universal power; and that the Jews so understood it, is plain from John 1:49 which passage, as well as our Saviour's promise here, plainly allude to the second Psalm. Wherefore our Saviour, after this promise, shews that it is in the same manner that he will give power, as he received it of his Father; who, by declaring him his Son, declared him his Heir in universal power and dominion. How he means that this promise shall be accomplished, is fully shewn, chap. Revelation 20:4 and Revelation 21:7.
